Laura and Adam met in 2008 at a gig as both groups of friends were in a band. They got chatting and it wasn’t long before they fell in love.
2012 and Adam had pre-asked Laura's Dad Carl, for his daughters hand in marriage.
Adam, had originally planned to propose during a break in the Lake district but failed.
They drove back home and it was that night at bed time, Adam showed Laura the ring. Laura picked the ring out of the box, looked at it and put it back.
This was Adam's romantic way of proposing :-)
Adam and Laura currently live in Ashton, Wigan. They tied the knot on Friday 14th November 2014 at Farington Lodge, Preston, Lancashire. I was honoured to be part of their whole wedding day starting at 1.00pm, playing their chosen tracks for their vows ceremony. I arrived at Farington Lodge at 10.30am to be greeted by the fabulous staff and the photographer for for the day, Mike Goulding.
So first of the music today was for vows ceremony, Laura and Adam chose these:
Prelude: (Waiting for the Bride)
Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover
Daft Punk - Get Lucky
Queen - Best Friend
Led zepplin - stairway to heaven
Justin Timberlake ft Michael Jackson - love never felt so good
Processional: (Brides arrival)
Fleetwood Mac - Songbird (instrumental)
Signing of the marriage register:
Cairn String Quartet - Everlong
River flows in you - Twilight soundtrack, breaking dawn
Bach -Air (on a G string) - A Brides Guide album
One day like this - Love actually album
You do something to me - Love actually album
Recessional (Bride & Bridegroom exit)
Jackie Wilson - (your love keeps lifting me) higher and higher
3.00pm Laura, Adam and 64 of their closest friends and family were treated to a fabulous wedding breakfast which was prepared by the Farington Lodge head chef and his team. Simon was on hand to ensure the cuisine went out steaming hot.
Rather than a typical wedding introduction I advised Adam and Laura that introducing the whole Bridal party would be more fun.
So after getting the guests in the dining room, I kept the Bridal party back and introduced them to the guests with a theme tune, here they are:
Boys are back in town - Thin Lizzy
Girls - Sugarbabes
Salt 'N' Pepa - Whatta Man 1994 (feat. En Vogue)
Benny hill theme
Julie and Jeff Alstead
Entry of the gladiator (Big Top Theme)
Joan and Carl Bithell
Bride & Bridegroom:
Happy - Pharell Williams
Adam and Laura Alstead
During the wedding breakfast I did a quiz "How well do you know the Bride and Bridegroom?" What a great laugh this was, we had some interesting answers :-) I also placed some advice cards on the tables, again Laura and Adam's guests gave them some great advice for a long and happy marriage.
7.00pm arrived and so did an additional 60 of Adam and Laura's friends and Family. I was the evening DJ and played a great selection of music to keep the dance-floor active. Laura is a Def Leopard fan so I slotted a few of their tracks in. Their first dance and Father and Daughter dance was emotional, here is what we decided to use:
Entrance to the Dance-floor: Treasure - Bruno Mars
First dance: Ever - Team Sleep ( Foreign flag version, radio edit)
Father & Daughter: When you need me - Bruce Springsteen, Laura's Dad. Carl
Bridal Party: Bestfriend - Queen followed by, Fascination - Alphabeat
Crazy little thing called love - Queen
Is this love - Whitesnake
AC/DC - You shook me all night long
A fabulous day shared with fabulous people. Congratulations to Laura & Adam Alstead and thank you for inviting me to share your big day. You both looked amazing and I wish you and your families health and happiness for the future x
